My name is Pete Neufeld, and I was born in a small town in Paraguay, South America. My parents, my 5 siblings, and I immigrated to the city of Waterloo in 1967 where I have resided ever since.
I’ve spent the majority of my working life as an owner/operator for Waterloo Taxi Ltd. Starting as a driver, then eventually becoming the President of the company. In my 32 years there I had the opportunity to work with a richly diverse group of individuals. During this time I had a front row seat watching the Region of Waterloo grow and flourish to become what it is today. In 2021 I chose to look for a new challenge and left the Taxi industry and found my place working for the city of Kitchener.
Outside of work I am an avid motorcyclist and animal lover, especially dogs, as I have had a few that left an indelible mark on my heart. I have followed Municipal politics for many years, and have finally decided to step up and hope to get the opportunity to help make a difference in my community.

As a region, we are known for our innovation and outstanding ability to adapt to a changing landscape, and I feel we need to put time and energy into finding long-term solutions to the housing crisis, assisting those members of our community currently experiencing homelessness, and growing our infrastructure.
If elected, my first 100 days would be focused on listening to and exploring a variety of next-steps for the current housing crisis, as it not only affects those who are currently experiencing homelessness, but local residents and businesses are being affected by the issue as well.
My years of working with a great diversity of people has taught me that my lived experience differs in many ways from Black, Indigenous, and people of colour, which makes listening to and supporting members of these communities an important step in championing diversity and inclusion.
